Unanimously noted for their enthusiastic performances and innovative audience-building residencies, the ensemble has numerous commercial recordings under both the Naxos and Catalpa Classics labels, and is heard regularly on classical music radio including National Public Radio's All Things Considered and Performance Today. The ensemble has two new CD releases. One is titled Our Favorites and includes some all-time favorite music like Bach’s “Air” (for the G string), Mascagni’s “Intermezzo” from Cavalleria Rusticana, Brahms’s “Hungarian Dance," Pachelbel's “Canon," “Meditation” from Thais, Kreisler’s “Le Gitana,” and many others. The second is titled Masterpieces and features piano trios by Bedrich Smetana, Joaquin Turina, and Johannes Brahms. Other releases include a critically acclaimed recording of three American piano trios on the Naxos "American Music Series." On this CD are trios by Gunther Shuller, Gerald Shapiro, and Grammy Award Winner Lalo Shifrin of Mission Impossible fame. Additional recordings by the Trio include Gershwin for Three, a CD of all original arrangements of some of George Gershwin's greatest music, The Romantic Trio CD with the wonderful D minor, OP 49 Trio by Mendelssohn and the Anton Arensky D minor Trio, a CD titled Playing with Fire, featuring Joaquin Turina's Second Piano Trio and the Ravel Piano Trio. The ensemble's second holiday radio program,
I'll Be Home for the Holidays, was aired on over 150 radio stations nationwide for the last ten years and will be heard across the country again this holiday season. This program was produced by WQED FM in Pittsburgh and coordinated with Habitat for Humanity International. Their recordings Home for the Holidays and I'll Be Home for the Holidays were two of the top five best sellers nationwide for Naxos for the last eight years. The Eaken Piano Trio is proud of their community outreach programs that have helped to raise the awareness of the homeless problems in America and have generated tens of thousands of dollars to support organizations that help the homeless and homeless animals.

The Eaken Piano Trio maintains a rigorous touring schedule, with recent performances in Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, West Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania. During the last three years, the group has returned for multiple tours in Europe with performances in England, France, Germany, and Italy, with their latest tour in June of 2006 presenting concerts for the Pennsylvania Ambassadors of Music in Venice, Verona, Milan, Lucerne, Munich, Strasbourg, and Paris. In June of 2008, they will be touring in China.

The Trio was in residence at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, from 1991 through 2000 and continues to provide inspiring residencies throughout the United States. Their residency program, recognized by Chamber Music America as one of the five most successful in the Nation, involves students and faculty in chamber music through concerts, workshops, and an innovative curriculum integrating chamber music into virtually every aspect of liberal arts education. The Trio visits classes in music history, language, art, psychology, anthropology, dance, and the sciences, exploring the relationships between music and the topic of study.
